Responsibility
Mesa’s Emergency Operations Center and 911 call center serve 515,000 citizens—part of the greater Phoenix metropolitan area which 5.2 million people call home over more than 19,300 square miles.
Challenge
Guarding the safety of Mesa’s population doesn’t stop at the city’s border in the Valley of the Sun. Weather events like flash floods, as well as large scale manmade events and disruptions can easily spill across multiple communities in the area, sometimes rapidly and without warning.
Solution
Mesa’s proactive approach keeps teams prepared and communicating seamlessly in a dedicated EOC facility running vis/ability.
Result
Having learned hard lessons before creating the Mesa EOC, the public safety team is now in regular coordination with the city’s emergency services, and a nexus of key collaboration during critical events across jurisdictions in The Valley. Powered by vis/ability, two large centralized video walls and multiple large monitors in the facility and breakout rooms keep teams sharing updates and information smoothly when the technology needs to “just work.”
