ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – With a call to 911 and the push of a few buttons, DeKalb County will soon have eyes in the sky and cameras on the ground to track criminal activity and provide real-time information when crimes occur.
County leaders said the investment in drones, cameras and advanced technology is well worth it… The center monitors live camera feeds and active 911 calls, tracks officers in the field and operates drones in real time. The drones are equipped with thermal imaging, which can be critical when searching for missing persons or suspects on the run.
“Over 500 cameras, whether license plate readers pan tilt cameras fixed cameras or mobile security trailers but through Connect DeKalb, we have well over 1,000 cameras we have access to right now we want to build on that,” DeKalb County Police Chief Gregory Padrick said.
